The Amazon Echo Dot is very small and light weight. With it weighing in at 163 grams. It costs less than the original Echo and maintains what made the original Echo so amazing. With the ability to connect external speakers, this makes the Dot a great way to listen to music around the house. If you do not have speakers you can connect, don’t worry the internal speakers are also well equipped to handle your requests.
The Dot comes ready to connects to Wi-Fi, using the Echo app will allow you to communicate and input the correct Wi-Fi login credentials. You can manually adjust the volume using the buttons on the interface. Along with the volume buttons you also have the ability to turn off the microphone. You may want to do this for a verity of different reasons. There is a small 3.5mm jack for plugging in your speakers, next to that is a micro USB power connecter.
You will also be able to turn lights on and off as you enter or leave a room. In addition to this, you can use your voice to connect different devices in your house using simple connecters.
Unfortunately, Alexa isn’t Jarvis helping Tony Stark around the home. But, she is a great start to home automation for a low cost. As more and more people buy the Echo/Echo Dot Amazon will keep updating the software and functionality. So as time goes on you will be getting more for your money, Alexa is a great investment.
